Nottingham: In what was their best batting performance in the ongoing Test series, Indian batsmen finally turned up with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane scoring 97 and 81 runs respectively on Day one of the third Test here on Saturday.
India will resume Day 2 of the third Test on the overnight score of 307/6 at the Trent Bridge here on Sunday.
While Chris Woakes scalped the first three Indian wickets, England struggled to scalp wickets in the middle phases as Kohli and Rahane put up a 159-run partnership to push England on the backfoot.
While James Anderson removing Hardik Pandya in the final over of Day 1 has given England a hope to run through India’s lower order, India have given themselves a chance to challenge England on the back off their 300+ total. And if the last four wickets manage to add 50-60 runs, it will help the team’s chances further.
