Holy fire 2018 MAPPED: Wildfire grows 4000 acres OVERNIGHT — where is it now?

The Holy Fire is threatening the populous Orange County as the apparently man-made fire has begun a deadly track around the Californian landscape.

One of many fires to take root in the Golden State this Summer, the Holy Fire comes with a steady increase in deadly blazes as the largest fires in California history are recorded.

The Carr Fire has already been able to claim the lives of six people, two of whom were firefighters called in to help contain the behemoth.

The Mendocino Complex Fire has now broken records as the largest in California history, but the rapidly developing Holy Fire could soon rival it.

Where is the Holy Fire now?

The Holy Fire started burning in Trabuco Canyon just four days ago on August 6 and has since grown to nearly 10,000 acres (15 square miles).

Officials have put the fire at 9,600 acres total and is now apparently five percent contained.

A state of emergency has been declared for the area, allowing the county to free up extra resources to help tackle the flames.

The cause of the Holy Fire remains under investigation, but one man has been arrested in connection with starting the fire.

The Orange County District Attorney Office announced yesterday that 51-year-old Forrest Clark had been arrested on suspicion of starting the fire.

Now charged with multiple criminal accounts of arson, Clark awaits trial next Friday.

His bail has been set at $1million, and should he be convicted, faces a life sentence for his crimes.

Deputy district attorney in Orange County, Jeffrey Kirk, said in a television interview that more charges could yet be filed.

As the investigation continues and the fires grow, there is still the possibility that Clark is found responsible for further incidents.

According to television network KTLA, Mr Kirk said “The sky’s the limit”.

The Holy Fire would be the only fire identified so far this season that could result in arrest for arson.

A total of 16,132 wildfire alerts have come from California alone in the last week, meaning the state has been at the mercy of the most wildfires this year.

Currently, the Carr wildfire is raging in Shasta County, the county’s largest wildfire in history.

The fires have burned a total of 178,752 acres and is 49 percent contained.

The destructive Mendocino Complex Fire has now taken a total of 305,152 acres (476 square miles) and is 51 percent contained in the area of Ukia, west of Sacramento.
