Hyderabad: Film actor P. Babu Mohan, who was denied a ticket by the TRS from the Andhole (SC) Constituency in Sangareddy district on Saturday joined the BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah. Mr Babu Mohan was denied renomination by the TRS based on the feedback from surveys conducted by the party on the winning chances of the candidates. The TRS chose TV journalist Kranthi as its candidate in place of Mr Babu Mohan.
Sulking since then, Mr Babu Mohan chose the BJP after being assured that he would be given a ticket from Andhole. BJP state president Dr K. Laxman said that with Mr Babu Mohan joining the party, the BJP had sent out a signal that it was the only party which provided equal opportunity to all communities.
Mr Babu Mohan, who has acted in several films mostly as a comedian and a villain, was earlier a minister in the Cabinet of Mr N Chandrababu Naidu when Mr Chandrasekhar Rao served as Deputy Speaker in the Assembly in undivided AP.
