Congress top leaders ignoring Shakti app

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders particularly seniors including some MLAs are not taking much interest in enrolling party workers in the Shakti app. Out of 1.8 lakh enrolled, about 35,000 workers are from just three of the 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi feels the app is prestigious and had given the target to TPCC to enrol around 25 lakh workers from all the 119 assembly constituencies.

In Huzurnagar assembly constituency represented by TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, about 10,000 workers were enrolled.  From Kodada assembly constituency represented by N Padmavathi, wife of TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, about 10,000 workers were enrolled in this app. Congress leader from Amberpet assembly constituency N Srikanth Goud enrolled about 13,000 workers.

In appreciation, Congress President Rahul Gandhi presented the Shakti award to Srikanth Goud at Delhi recently. After he became the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, had launched the Shakti app to promote better coordination in the party to establish a link between the leadership and the workers or even send communications communications quickly.

Former Union Minister and incharge of the Shakti app told TPCC to enrol 100 workers per polling booth in the Shakti app. TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy directed that 25 workers be enrolled from each polling booth in the initial stage. But even those directions have not been implemented by some senior leaders. TPCC sources said in one assembly constituency represented by a party MLA, not even one worker was enrolled in the Shakti app.

Once party workers are enrolled in the app, the Congress President can interact with them directly. TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy is interacting with party workers through this app once in a week and last week, he interacted with 40,000 workers and told them he would seek opinions on candidate selection.
